The past three weeks have been a time of utter terror for Texas. With a series of package bombs and a tripwire taking the lives of numerous residents of Austin, horror has literally come to their doorsteps.

Starting from March 2nd, a total of six bombing incidents all performed by a single serial bomber has happened. The first and fatal bombing incident took place at a 39-year-old man’s house. At this stage, many dismissed the case as a typical bombing incident that was unique on its own.

However, this was just the start.

The next two incidents, taking place both on March 13th, caused one death and two severe injuries in which a bomb was left simply on the victim’s doorsteps.

The nature of these bombings led many to think these acts of terror were racially motivated, as most of the bombings so far had taken place in minority communities. However, this idea was proven wrong as 3 other bomb and tripwire blasts happened, not specifically aimed at a group or region.

Now, the residents of Texas have been told there will probably be no need to worry about this issue. On March 21, the suspect had died in a blast during a chase.

The police inform us that the suspect, Mark Conditt, had made a video confession of his acts prior to his death. Austin Police Chief Brian Manley told reporters, “He does not at all mention anything about terrorism, nor does he mention anything about hate, but instead it is the outcry of a very challenged young man, talking about challenges in his personal life.”

Definitely, Conditt’s death is a public relief. Future deaths and injuries have been prevented and Austin’s residents are now able to catch a breath.

However, I wonder what Conditt’s story might have been. Of course, nothing what so ever can justify these acts of pure evil. But what challenges could this young man have faced? What could the world have done to him for him to turn his back on it and ruin his bright future?
