Gordon Daniel Hayward, an American professional basketball player for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association, recently got injured in the game season for breaking the left ankle.
“Hayward (ankle) is not expected to return this season, Mark Murphy of The Boston Herald reports,” according to the ESPN, “Hayward likely will miss the remainder of the season after dislocating his ankle in his debut with the Celtics. Those in keeper leagues can still draft him, but time will tell how this injury affects his future production.”
During this hard time, a lot of others players posted prayers on social media to give Hayward courage and comfort to make it through this hard time. Gordon was thankful to the peoples’ prayers, and he responded in a positive way: “What’s up, everybody? I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has kept me in their thoughts and prayers,“ Hayward said.”I’m going to be alright. It’s hurting me that I can’t be there for the home opener; I want nothing more just to be with my teammates and walk out onto that floor tonight. I’ll be supporting you guys from here. I wish you the best of luck. Kill it tonight.”
Meanwhile, their head coach gave a speech on this injury, “I think the biggest thing is they really care about Gordon,” Stevens said. “He’s made a big impact on them. He’s an easy guy to play with. He’s a guy you want to play with on both ends of the floor. So certainly you miss that - and that camaraderie. But one of the tasks that we have now is to pick up steam for him, and guys that get opportunities that [they] may not have [had before Hayward’s injury] or guys that get opportunities from a more minutes standpoint need to be ready to take advantage of those.”
Apparently, Celtics were not ready for this sudden injury at all. As ESPN said, “In the immediate aftermath of Gordon Hayward’s freak ankle injury, the Boston Celtics were rattled and uncertain how to respond. As pundits raced to adjust Boston’s season expectations, Celtics players themselves couldn’t help but hear the noise and wonder whether their own goals had to be tempered.”
This year isn’t too lucky for Celtics, but we always have next time to try! Let’s hope Celtics can have a horrific performance next year!
