According to research, California has been in danger of having a serious water shortage: wells are running dry, and reservoirs across various populated regions are experiencing droughts. Most of the districts have too few customers to collect enough revenue to pay for backup water supplies only a small pool of water is left in the Almaden Reservoir in San Jose, California. The possible outcome of water shortage is that sewage would stop flowing, and consequently mosquitoes and various other insects that breed in the infected waters could migrate and contribute to further infections. To make it more related to our lives, water shortage may also cause hunger. People use 70% of water sources for agriculture and irrigation. This shows water as a necessary ingredient in providing food for the entire population. Water shortage can also directly affect businesses by placing a limit on water to be used for work purposes. Living in California, every citizen has a responsibility in helping out, however, what can we do? As simple as it sounds, little acts such as reducing the use of water in daily life can support our city’ s water situation by a lot. Col¬lecting water we use while rinsing fruit and reusing it to, for example, water a plant is an¬other method of water efficiency. Also limiting our time in the shower is a great way of saving gallons of water annually, while also building a great habit for personal and monetary optimization. Moreover, take short showers instead of tub baths because a shower only uses 10 to 25 gallons of water while a bath uses up to 70 gallons! Those little actions can reduce a huge amount of water! There is strength in numbers. Genuine results would only occur if our entire community puts forth a valiant effort to bring about real change and results. Forward progress, however, can be accomplished, especially when it is for a good cause. And what better cause is there than for our future generations, who will inherit the earth and be the role models for the next millennia?
